We had a... read more double queen room that overlooked the pool and I could see the ocean in the distance. The room was very clean and the decor was cute. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. Only potential downside is there aren’t that many outlets, although there was a USB in the alarm clock and we had enough to make do. We had dinner a couple of times at the more casual restaurant on property; the food was delicious and we had great service each time. One night, the chef whipped up some honey mustard for my daughter after she requested it as a dipping sauce for her chicken tenders. Looking forward to my next stay here!

We were impressed with how quiet it... read more felt, while it was still an active resort. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and walkable.

We were easily able to walk to many of the La Jolla sites and the shuttle was convenient for spots that were not as easy to get to. You can take a fairly quiet route that allows for a 1.5-2 mile scenic walk to Children’s Pool, etc.

The pool was a great size and while the hot tub is a bit small, we never had an issue getting to enjoy it and guests tend to rotate in and out.

It was a little windy our first few days, so given the proximity right by the beach, just remember a sweatshirt and pants for the mornings and evenings.

The patio deck was a perfect size and the refrigerator in the room allowed us to keep a few breakfast and snack items. The beds were wonderful and the service provided - daily if desired - was top notch!

We are already talking about visiting again and bringing out two young sons. This is a gem of a place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a spot in La Jolla!

  The pancakes are soo fluffy  - The laid back casual comforts of The Shores is the perfect place for family vacations. Right around the corner is a small charming village with a wide variety of restaurants, coffee bars and places to shop. There's games set up in the courtyard like ping pong and foosball, plus the pool and hot tub are heated.
The staff is amazing and always happy to help, this will become our family winter reunion.
