Relaxation at it's finest
Our family chose to stay at the Shores for Christmas this year. We were not disappointed! The newly redecorated room were comfortable and relaxing. The ocean view rooms are stunning and the decor of the lobby and restaurant were festive and cherry. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our staff was relaxing and up to the quality we have come to expect of the Shores. We cannot say enough positives about the hotel, it's staff and the beauty of tue beach and it's views! We cannot wait for our next trip

A little gem on the best walking beach in San Diego County!
If you want to walk on the best walking beach this is the place to stay. Walk up north past Scripps Pier to the tidepools (if tide is low). Have lunch w/the ocean view, walk downtown for Yogurt, snorkel w/leopard sharks in late summer (they are SHY and w/sandpapery nubs for teeth) watch birds, dolphins, and sea lions dive on bait balls off shore. Build some sandcastles or just stare out to the horizon, this is my HAPPY place

Much to like, but . . .
Easy to book at a conference rate, got an upgrade to a king room with a kitchen without asking. The open air hallways must be delightful when it's sunny, windy and wet in the rain I encountered. Partial ocean view meant I could hear the waves and seagulls, lovely. Immaculate room and kitchen, loved the body lotion. Group dinner first night was extraordinary crab cakes and butter fish, and our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I would have ranked it a 5, but for the smell of pee in the one-car elevator. I reported it, and the next day it smelled like the W 14th St NYC subway elevator the day it was cleaned (drowned in heavily scented disinfectant, chokingky floral, that didn't quite do the job). The third day it was back to just pee, and I don't think it's a pet-friendly hotel. What a shame, how can I recommend it

Best Place to Stay in La Jolla
This hotel is literally right on the beach. Service is impeccable. The Shores restaurant on the property is very good. You really feel like you are on vacation when staying at La Jolla Shores. You will not be disappointed booking your stay here

Location and Local Feeling
Fantastic location out of the main La Jolla hubbub with everything you need right on the beach. Park the car in the garage and forget about it. Walk on the beach, grab a drink. Coffee at Brick and Bell, Lunch at the Cheese Shop and dinner right at the hotel or at one of the many spots in the little town. Feels like a small town get-a-way on the California Coast. Hard to believe you are right in San Diego
